Tax Consultants and Accountants Urged to Play Active Role in Strengthening National Economy: Bilal Azhar Kiyani

Islamabad: July 13, 2025

Minister of State for Finance and Head of the PM’s Delivery Unit, Mr. Bilal Azhar Kiyani, called upon tax consultants and accountants to actively support government initiatives aimed at bolstering Pakistan’s economy. He made these remarks as the Chief Guest at a high-profile seminar on the Finance Act 2025, jointly organized by the Islamabad Branch Council (IBC) of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP) and the Rawalpindi Islamabad Tax Bar Association (RITBA).

The event drew over 450 professionals, including tax experts, accountants, and business community representatives. Minister Kiyani highlighted the government’s significant strides toward economic stability, citing key achievements such as reduced inflation and policy rates, historic peaks in the stock exchange, effective national debt management, successful implementation of the IMF program, increased tax revenue, record-high foreign remittances, enhanced allocations for the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), and salary-class relief measures in the current budget.

Emphasizing the government’s commitment to inclusive policymaking, Kiyani stated, "We will ensure continuous engagement and consultation with the business community." He acknowledged the private sector’s critical role in the economy and thanked ICMAP Pakistan and RITBA for hosting the seminar, urging professionals to contribute actively to national economic strengthening.

Earlier, Mr. Muhammad Imran, FCMA, Chairman of IBC-ICMAP, welcomed the Minister and outlined ICMAP’s contributions to economic policymaking, financial and cost auditing, industrial research, and promoting global best practices. The seminar featured technical sessions by renowned tax experts dissecting amendments in income tax, sales tax, digital invoicing, appellate procedures, and the new Income Tax Return for 2025. Ms. Bushra Naz Malik, Member of the Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP), also addressed the gathering.

Mr. Muhammad Rizwan Arshad concluded the event with a vote of thanks, reinforcing the collaborative spirit between policymakers, professionals, and the business community.
