The Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmad Shah, paid a detailed visit to the Trust for Voluntary Organizations (TVO) Headquarters in Islamabad today, where he was received by Chief Executive Officer Ghulam Mohiuddin and senior officials of the organization.

During the visit, the Minister was briefed on TVO’s operations, achievements, and ongoing community development initiatives across Pakistan. CEO Ghulam Mohiuddin presented a comprehensive overview of TVO’s mandate, strategic objectives, and impact over the years. He highlighted that TVO, established with an endowment from USAID, has disbursed over PKR 1.36 billion in grants to support more than 1,431 projects of 1,212 NGOs/CBOs, benefiting over 10.8 million people nationwide.

CEO also outlined the organization's work in critical areas including primary health, safe drinking water, education, rehabilitation of differently abled persons, vocational training, and climate resilience, along with its flagship Village Social Enterprises (VSEs) pilot project currently operating in Shikarpur, in partnership with National Poverty Graduation Programme (NPGP) of Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety.

In his remarks, Federal Minister Syed Imran Ahmad Shah appreciated TVO’s grassroots-driven approach and noted the organization's critical role in supporting rural development through capacity building and community engagement. He emphasized the urgent need for targeted interventions in Balochistan, highlighting that the uplifting of people of Balochistan must be a central focus of poverty alleviation efforts to ensure inclusive national development.

The Minister also stressed the importance of data-driven governance and transparency, calling for a year-wise progress and performance report of TVO’s projects to be presented at the next meeting.

He inquired in detail about TVO’s liaison with the Ministry, governance structure, regional office functioning, and implementation model, underlining the need for strengthened institutional coordination.

The Minister stated that the TVO’s mission aligns well with the Ministry’s mandate of empowering underserved populations. Going forward, we must ensure robust integration, measurable outcomes, and outreach expansion, especially in remote and marginalized regions.

Following the briefing, the Minister visited the organization’s operational units and engaged with the representatives to gain first-hand insights. He called for a greater alignment between TVO’s efforts and national poverty alleviation policies.

The visit concluded with the exchange of shields as a token of appreciation and mutual collaboration between the Ministry and TVO.
