First Meeting of the Search Committee for Appointment of HEC Chairperson Held under Chairmanship of Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui

Islamabad: July 9, 2025

The inaugural meeting of the Search Committee for the appointment of the Chairperson of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) was held today under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui.

Minister of State Ms. Wajiha Qamar, Secretary Education Mr. Nadeem Mehbub, and the Vice Chancellors of Dewan University and Aga Khan University attended the meeting.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui stated that the appointment process of the HEC Chairperson will be carried out in a transparent, merit-based, and efficient manner. He emphasized that ensuring leadership based on merit is critical to improving the quality of higher education in Pakistan.

"Transparency, merit, and timely action are our guiding principles," said the Federal Minister. He further stated that the process will be completed without unnecessary delays.

The next meeting of the Search Committee is scheduled to be held on July 16, 2025.
