• BILATERAL AGREEMENT ON CULTURAL DIPLOMACY, TOURISM, AND HERITAGE RESTORATION

Qingdao: July 06, 2025

Minister for Culture, Tourism & Heritage, Huzaifa Rehman, held a high-level meeting with Chinese Minister of Culture & Tourism, Gao Zheng, in Beijing today. The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cultural diplomacy, enhancing tourism collaboration, and restoring shared heritage sites between Pakistan and China.

During the meeting, Minister Rehman expressed deep gratitude for China’s enduring friendship and support, highlighting that:

“The bond between Pakistan and China is deeper than the ocean, higher than mountains, and sweeter than honey.”

The following key initiatives were discussed and agreed upon:

• Heritage Site Restoration: Launching joint projects for the restoration, preservation, and digital documentation of historical landmarks in both countries.

• Museums & Cultural Exchanges: Strengthening Museum development partnerships and organizing a series of cultural delegations, art exhibitions, and film festivals.

• Training & Capacity Building: Implementing training programs in museology and professional development for museum staff.

• Tourism Promotion: Rolling out collaborative tourism campaigns and policy initiatives to boost visitor flows and cultural exploration.

Minister Gao Zheng extended a formal invitation to Minister Rehman to attend the upcoming International Museum Conference scheduled in China this September. Minister Rehman gratefully accepted the invitation, signaling continued momentum for joint cultural initiatives.

Minister Rehman also conveyed heartfelt appreciation to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese government for their unwavering support and close cooperation with Pakistan, particularly on cultural and tourism fronts.

This landmark meeting paves the way for actionable steps in the near future, setting a strategic roadmap for Pakistan–China cultural partnership and mutual heritage conservation.
