Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Khalid Hussain Magsi, along with other honourable Federal Ministers, visited the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Headquarters in Islamabad today. During the visit, NDMA Chairman Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik briefed the ministers on the Authority’s multifaceted role in managing emergencies and disasters across the country.
The Chairman shared insights on the changing climate patterns in Pakistan and NDMA’s proactive efforts to enhance national preparedness, coordination, and response capabilities. He emphasized the need for a comprehensive disaster risk management framework to effectively address the increasing challenges posed by climate-induced events.
On this occasion, Federal Minister Khalid Hussain Magsi acknowledged NDMA’s effective performance under the vision of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif. He stressed the importance of transforming NDMA into a state-of-the-art institution, drawing inspiration from leading international disaster management models.
The Federal Minister also emphasized the need to enhance contact and cooperation with Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs) to ensure that disaster-related issues are addressed more effectively at both national and regional levels.
He appreciated NDMA’s efforts and reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to strengthening institutional capacity for timely and coordinated disaster risk reduction across the country.
