A meeting of the Sub-Committee on Arts and Literature for the Pakistan Civil Awards 2025 was held today at the Cabinet Division, Islamabad. The meeting was chaired by the Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Muhammad Aurangzeb Khichi.

The committee reviewed nominations of individuals who have rendered outstanding services in the fields of arts and literature.

The meeting was attended by officials from the Cabinet Secretariat and other relevant departments, including representatives from the arts and literary sectors. Participants emphasized the importance of ensuring that the selection process remains strictly merit-based and truly reflective of Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage.

Federal Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb Khichi was briefed on the Pakistan Civil Awards selection process. It was informed that a total of 129 nominations had been received from various nominating agencies.

The meeting was also attended by Secretary National Heritage and Culture Asad Rehman Gilani, Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, and other senior officials.

It was suggested during the meeting that the selection of artists should not be based on an examination or grading system but rather on meaningful consultation with subject experts.

The committee was informed that yet no nominations had been received from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Arts and Culture Department. In response, the Minister stated that if the provincial government submits names from the relevant field, they will be duly considered.

The meeting conducted a detailed review of all nominated individuals, their achievements, and the appropriate category of awards for each nominee.

Federal Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb Khichi proposed that all deserving and eligible candidates should be selected for awards and that there should be no fixed limit on the number of awardees.

It is worth mentioning here that the recommendations made during the meeting will be submitted for final approval under the Pakistan Civil Awards 2025 process.
