Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Muhammad Aurangzeb Khichi, was briefed by Executive Director of Lok Virsa, Dr. Waqas, on the ongoing developmental initiatives at the institution.

The meeting included a detailed discussion on projects aimed at enhancing tourist engagement through cultural visuals and new initiatives.

The Executive Director informed the minister that arts and crafts classes have already commenced at Lok Virsa, and dance and music classes will soon be launched.

Emphasizing the importance of hygiene and visitor experience, the minister directed that special attention be given to the cleanliness of washrooms and food areas. “Cleanliness is half of faith,” he remarked, adding that improved hygiene would boost tourist footfall and present a positive image of the institution.

The Minister further proposed organizing competitions in music, art, handicrafts, and truck art for children under the age of 20, with awards for the winners. He also announced plans to hold singing competitions at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA).

“These steps will not only promote the institution but also help revive dying cultural traditions,” said the minister. The meeting also reviewed preparations for cultural programs in connection with Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14.

Looking ahead to the upcoming Lok Mela, the minister stated that foreign companies would be invited to set up stalls, enhancing international cultural exchange. He added that formal invitations would be sent to ambassadors of various countries to ensure their participation.

These initiatives, he said, are part of a broader effort to preserve and promote Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage at both the national and international levels.
