Chairman Mr. Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), conducted an interactive session with selected candidates of the prestigious Internship Programme in the Parliament of Pakistan. The session, held under the theme “Engaging Youth for a Responsible Democracy”, was aimed at fostering democratic values and civic responsibility among Pakistani youth.
The internship programme received an overwhelming response, with more than 16,000 applications submitted by students from across the country. From this highly competitive pool, only 200 outstanding students were selected to participate in the exclusive four-week programme within the Parliament. Among them were 25 students from Sukkur IBA University and 30 from Aitchison College, reflecting the diverse and talented pool of youth taking part.
Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan’s session was structured around a series of meaningful and thought-provoking discussions. He began with an acknowledgment of the enthusiasm and potential shown by Pakistan’s youth, followed by an overview of PMYP – A Vision for Pakistan’s Future. He spoke about the crucial role of youth in upholding democratic values under the segment Democracy & Youth: A Shared Responsibility, and emphasized how the PMYP actively works to Embed Democratic Values in Practice through its initiatives.
The Chairman also elaborated on PMYP’s comprehensive and inclusive support systems under PMYP’s Holistic Support for Youth Empowerment, and reiterated the programme’s unwavering Commitment to a Responsible, Youth-led Pakistan. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, allowing the selected internees to interact directly with the Chairman, share their thoughts, and seek guidance on becoming more active contributors to Pakistan’s democratic and developmental journey.
During the session, Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan introduced key flagship initiatives under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), including Perfect Pitch, a national innovation platform connecting young entrepreneurs with investors via prime-time television, and the PM’s Cricket Talent Hunt Trials, launched in Quetta with 10,000 participants and now expanding nationwide in partnership with Lahore Qalandars. He also urged the internees to register themselves on the Digital Youth Hub — “a transformative platform where all four Es—Education, Employment, Engagement, and Empowerment—are just a click away”—and to actively encourage their peers to do the same, emphasizing that real opportunity begins with awareness and access.
This initiative by PMYP continues to provide young Pakistanis with practical exposure to policymaking, governance, and civic engagement, equipping them with the tools and vision to become the leaders of tomorrow.
