Malaysian Ambassador to Pakistan, Mohd Syafik Firdaus Hasbullah, called on Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture, Muhammad Aurangzeb Khichi, in Islamabad today. Both sides agreed to further enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture and heritage.
During the meeting, the Malaysian Ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s support for promoting cultural ties and acknowledged the commendable role played by the government and people of Pakistan in preserving and celebrating cultural values. He emphasized that Malaysia attaches great importance to cultural diplomacy with Pakistan.
The Federal Minister assured the Government of Pakistan’s full support in facilitating cultural and artistic exchanges between the two countries. “We have institutions fully capable of organizing exhibitions and cultural activities,” the Minister stated.
Ambassador Hasbullah extended a formal invitation to the minister to visit Malaysia, which was warmly accepted. He also highlighted Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage and acknowledged the positive image and contribution of Pakistani expatriates in Malaysia. “Pakistanis are hardworking and talented, and they are playing a significant role in business and other sectors in Malaysia,” he added.
An important highlight of the meeting was the discussion on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the first time in Pakistan to promote the legacy of the Gandhara Civilization a significant step toward cultural preservation through modern technology.
Both sides also discussed the idea of organizing joint cultural performances featuring dancers from both countries. The Minister assured full cooperation in this regard, while the Ambassador noted that such events would provide an opportunity for the Pakistani public to experience the richness of Malaysian culture.
Highlighting Punjab’s unique cultural identity, Minister Khichi said that the province’s heritage holds a distinctive place in the world. In response, the Ambassador expressed keen interest in visiting the cultural sites of interior Punjab.
The meeting concluded in a cordial atmosphere, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties in the fields of culture, arts, and heritage.
