Chairman Senate Syed yousuf Raza Gilani has emphasized that Pakistan–Saudi Arabia relations are not transactional but deep-rooted in shared faith, history, and commonalities.

Chairman Senate highlighted his recent successful visit by to Saudi Arabia last year, and the reciprocal visit by the Chairman of the Shura Council to Pakistan, both of which reinforced the importance of parliamentary diplomacy. The chairman expressed these views in a meeting with Major General (Rtd) Dr. Abdul Rahman bin sanhat Al-Harbi, head of Saudi Arabia Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship group Parliament House Islamabad.

Mr Gilani emphasized the need to institutionalize regular dialogue between the Senate of Pakistan and the Shura Council, through frequent highlevel exchanges and people to people contacts.

The Chairman Senate also recalled his high level meetings with Saudi leadership. He said that both sides share common sentiments of love and respect.

The Senate Chairman thanked the Kingdom for continuously improving the Hajj and Umrah experience for Pakistanis.

Mr. Gilani acknowledged the significant contribution of over 2.5 million Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia, who not only support the Kingdom’s growth but are a pillar of Pakistan’s economy through remittances. He appreciated for Saudi Arabia for taking care of Pakistan diaspora.

The Senate Chairman concluded by reaffirming Pakistan’s deep-rooted commitment to its brotherly alliance with the Kingdom, and express hope that the work of this Friendship Group will usher in a new era of transformative, resilient, and future-ready cooperation. ‘’We also look forward to the visit of H.H crown prince of Saudi Arabia’’.

He acknowledged the historical depth of defence and security cooperation and said trade and economic relations have also contributed to further boosting mutual collaboration. Mr Gilani also referred to the SIFC and said that the forum is a one window operation to facilitate trade and investment in diverse sectors.

He also called for early implementation of the MOUs signed between the two sides. Addressing the delegation and member of the Parliament at the reception, the Chairman Senate reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to further enhance fraternal bonds and friendship.

He termed the visit of Saudi delegation as a reflection of trust and goodwill that exists between two nations.

Earlier, leader of Saudi delegation arrived at Parliament House. Chairman senate accorded a warm welcome to the delegation. Leader of Saudi delegation thanked chairman senate for warm welcome and said that Pakistan is an important country in region. Both sides, he said attach huge, importance to bilateral ties and multifaceted cooperation.
