Federal Minister for Public Affairs, Mr. Rana Mubashar Iqbal, chaired a high-level meeting of the Political Affairs Committee constituted by the Prime Minister. The meeting was attended by prominent committee members including MNA Mr. Jamal Shah Kakar, SAPM For Power Mr. Abdul Rehman Kanju, and Parliamentary secretary for Maritime Affairs Dr. Darshan. The committee discussed the ongoing political engagement strategy and measures to improve coordination among parliamentarians, federating units, and government ministries.
Mr. Rana Mubashar Iqbal highlighted that the Committee is tasked with identifying key political challenges affecting governance, public service delivery, and public grievances. The Committee will play a central role in facilitating consultations with stakeholders and helping the Prime Minister finalize a responsive and inclusive political agenda.
The Committee is also responsible for gathering regular feedback and insights from elected representatives, political workers, civil society, and opinion-makers on the performance of ministries and government projects. These inputs will be consolidated and presented as formal recommendations to the Prime Minister to ensure transparency and accountability in governance.
The Federal Minister reiterated the Committee’s mandate to independently monitor and evaluate infrastructure, social, and economic development projects in coordination with elected representatives. He stated that the Public Affairs Unit would collaborate with relevant government ministries and agencies to ensure timely implementation and completion of ongoing and proposed projects, including those referred by individual members for their constituencies.
The Minister also directed that collaboration with provincial governments must be strengthened to ensure inter-governmental harmony and fast-tracked infrastructure development. He said that the Committee will effectively coordinate between the ruling party, coalition partners, Parliament, and ministries to build consensus and resolve political issues.
All members agreed to ensure the full attendance of Parliamentarians during the ongoing budget session till June 27. Mr. Jamal Shah Kakar appreciated the federal budget, stating, “For the first time in history, a historic allocation of Rs. 240 billion has been made for Balochistan development projects. This clearly shows the Prime Minister’s special focus on Balochistan.” He rejected baseless propaganda that Balochistan is being sidelined, emphasizing that the region is a national priority for the current government.
In addition, Federal Minister Rana Mubashar Iqbal clarified that Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have also received increased budget allocations proportionate to their population size. He said, “This is a balanced and inclusive budget that addresses regional disparities and offers meaningful economic relief to the people.”
The meeting concluded with a strong resolve to further strengthen political coordination, ensure timely execution of development projects, and support the Prime Minister’s agenda for good governance, economic stability, and national cohesion.
