Ambassador of Egypt calls on Federal Minister for IT, Shaza Fatima Khawaja

Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan, Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan, called on the Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja, in Islamabad. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the digital domain.

Both sides discussed the possibility of holding joint workshops in cybersecurity and maritime cable systems. The ambassador expressed keen interest in cooperation on 5G, fintech, training programs, and scholarships.

Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja highlighted the strong similarities between Pakistan and Egypt, which pave the way for meaningful collaboration across various sectors. She added that Egypt’s outsourcing goals and national digitization agenda are closely aligned with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for a “Digital Pakistan.”

The minister emphasized Pakistan’s achievements in cybersecurity, noting that the country’s hackathons have gained international recognition. She invited Egyptian youth to actively participate in Pakistan’s cybersecurity competitions.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja remarked that both Pakistan and Egypt are located at strategic points — Pakistan connects East to Central Asia, while Egypt links to the rest of the world. She noted that Pakistan has a robust telecom network with seven submarine cables, and expressed Pakistan’s interest in future collaboration with Egypt.
