Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation with H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan today and congratulated the President and the brotherly people of Tajikistan on the blessed occasion of Eid ul Adha.
During their warm telephone conversation, the Prime Minister thanked President Rahmon for the generous hospitality extended to him and his delegation during his recent visit to Dushanbe and congratulated Tajikistan on the successful convening of the International Conference on Glaciers Preservation.
The Prime Minister also thanked Tajikistan for its balanced position calling for peace and dialogue, during the recent Pakistan-India crisis. He emphasized that Pakistan had always strived for maintaining peace and security in the region and it was in this spirit that it had agreed to the ceasefire understanding with India, brokered by the U.S. and other friendly countries.
On bilateral relations, the two leaders expressed satisfaction on the positive trajectory of ties, which were growing steadily across all areas of mutual interest. The Prime Minister also reiterated his invitation to the President of Tajikistan to undertake an official visit to Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
President Emomali Rahmon thanked the Prime Minister for the telephone call and appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for regional peace and security. He also conveyed his sincere good wishes for the people of Pakistan on the occasion of Eid ul Adha.
