Jam Kamal Khan Urges Government Ownership of Sports at Emerging Pakistan Tennis Championship

Islamabad: June 4, 2025

Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has called for stronger government ownership of sports activities in Pakistan, particularly tennis, emphasizing the role of public-private partnerships in promoting national branding through sports.

He was speaking at the prize distribution ceremony of the 1st Emerging Pakistan National Ranking Tennis Championship 2025, an event sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and held at the PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad.

“The federal government must come forward and take ownership of such activities,” the minister said. “With public-private partnership and the backing of the government, we need to promote tennis. This is Branding Pakistan.”

The minister congratulated the organizers, participants, and winners for making the event a great success. He also distributed shields and trophies among the players, winners, organizers, and officials of the tournament.

He extended special congratulations to Aqeel Khan, who won the championship, and to Muzammil Khan, the runner-up. The event was a testament to the growing talent and enthusiasm for tennis in Pakistan.

“The success of this event shows the potential we have, and we are committed to supporting similar initiatives in the future. Branding Pakistan through sports is part of our national mandate,” the minister added.

Also present at the ceremony were the Secretary Sports, President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation and tennis star Mr. Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, who praised the initiative.
