A delegation led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Engro Polymer & Chemicals Limited (EPCL), Mr. Abdul Qayoom, called on Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, here at his office on Monday to discuss challenges facing the polymer and chemical industry and to seek government support for improving competitiveness.
During the meeting, Mr. Abdul Qayoom apprised the minister of the difficulties being faced by the industry, particularly related to tariff structures and regional competition.
He emphasized the importance of a level playing field and policy support to enable local manufacturers to thrive and contribute effectively to the national economy.
The minister assured the delegation that the government is committed to creating a business-friendly environment and will look into viable solutions to support the chemical and manufacturing sectors.
Minister Jam Kamal Khan said that strengthening local industries is a key priority of the government, and stakeholders’ input is vital in shaping trade and industrial policies.
He assured that the Ministry of Commerce would work in coordination with relevant departments to address the issues raised and explore options to enhance the industry’s export potential and overall growth.
