Rana Mubashir Honors Nuclear Pioneers, Reaffirms National Strength
Lahore: May 28, 2025

Federal Minister for Public Affairs Rana Mubashir Iqbal congratulated the nation on Youm-e-Takbeer, paying tribute to Pakistan’s nuclear scientists, armed forces, and political leadership for making the country a nuclear power.

Speaking at a ceremony at his Dera in Khayaban-i-Ameen, he termed May 28 a defining moment in Pakistan’s history, symbolizing strength, unity, and deterrence. He praised former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for making the bold decision to conduct nuclear tests in 1998, despite international pressure and a $5 billion offer to desist.

He honored the contributions of Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan, Dr. Samar Mubarakmand, and all scientists involved. Highlighting post-test diplomacy, he noted Nawaz Sharif’s warm welcome in Saudi Arabia and growing support from the Muslim world.

Rana Iqbal also lauded the Pakistan Armed Forces, calling them the nation's guardians. He cited the development of the JF-17 Thunder as a milestone in strengthening defense capabilities and deterring aggression, particularly referencing Operation Bunyad-e-Marsous.

He condemned Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s alleged role in regional instability and acts of terrorism, including the killing of a Canadian Sikh leader. Referring to the Pahalgam incident, he stressed Pakistan’s diplomatic response and international support for its call for investigation.

The minister reaffirmed that Pakistan seeks peace but will not compromise on national defense. He thanked political parties for showing unity on national security issues and emphasized that the blood of martyrs will never go in vain.

The ceremony concluded with a cake-cutting to commemorate the historic day.
