Ambassador Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, Pakistan’s Envoy to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), along with Consul General Hussain Muhammad, attended a landmark event at the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD), where the official announcement was made of a new Guinness World Record of the largest UAE flag created using human handprints.
Recognized by Guinness World Records, the flag features 24,514 individual handprints contributed by people from over 100 nationalities, symbolizing the diversity and unity of the UAE. The unveiling ceremony was held at PAD on Thursday, May 22, in the presence of a large gathering of Pakistani and Emirati community members.
The record-setting initiative was a collaborative effort by Pakistan Association Dubai, Emirates Loves Pakistan, and artist Rubab Zahra, who conceptualized the unique artwork completed during a month-long activation campaign that began on April 13 in Al Quoz, Dubai.
Commending the efforts of PAD under the leadership of President Dr. Faisal Ikram, Ambassador Tirmizi said, “These are not merely handprints, but heart prints, an expression of the community’s love, unity, and dedication. This initiative beautifully aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and stands as a testament to the deep-rooted relationship between the Pakistani community and the UAE.”
Ambassador Tirmizi also highlighted the literary contribution of Pakistani author Mr. Khan Zaman, who recently published a book on the life and legacy of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the founding father of the UAE, further strengthening the cultural and historical ties between the two nations.
During his address, the Ambassador also appreciated the collaboration between Emirates Loves Pakistan and PAD in organizing a grand event for Pakistan’s Independence Day on August 14 last year and called upon all stakeholders to work together to host an even more remarkable celebration this year.
Dr. Faisal Ikram, President of PAD, expressed heartfelt gratitude to all contributors, volunteers and supporters of the initiative. “This record-breaking effort symbolizes the unity and spirit of cooperation that defines our community and perfectly embodies the essence of the ‘Year of Community 2025’,” he said.
