Islamabad: May 15, 2025

Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, met with the Ambassador of Syria to Pakistan Dr. Ramez Alraee.

During the meeting, both sides discussed the prevailing situation in Syria and expressed their shared hope for lasting peace and stability in the region. They unequivocally condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression and the unlawful occupation of Syrian territory.

Dr. Musadik Malik reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for Syria’s sovereignty, dignity, and territorial integrity. He stated that Pakistan has always stood by its brotherly country, Syria, and will continue to advocate for its rightful stance on the international stage.

The Syrian Ambassador highlighted the severe hardships endured by the Syrian people in light of continuous Israeli aggression. He shared that vast portions of the country face power shortages, with some areas receiving less than two hours of electricity per day, compounding the already dire humanitarian situation.

The Minister emphasized that peace in Syria is essential not only for the Middle East but for global stability. He underlined that the immediate priorities concerning Syria should be: access to essential resources, affordability of those resources, and then broader access — noting that the concept of “access” differs significantly between the Global North and the Global South.

The Ambassador lauded the bravery and professionalism of the Pakistan Air Force and expressed appreciation for the Government of Pakistan’s efforts in achieving a timely ceasefire with India.

Dr. Malik noted that Indian aggression appeared to be shaped by the Israeli doctrine, which aims to enforce a global order dominated by hegemonic powers.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to peace, regional stability, and the protection of sovereign rights of all nations.
