The Honorable Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik held a meeting with Mr. Wille Eerola, Honorary Consul General of Pakistan in Finland, and Mr. Alexandre Eykerman, Regional Director for the Middle East at Wärtsilä, to discuss potential collaborations in the energy sector.
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Finland in oil, gas, minerals and renewable energy sectors.
Discussions included opportunities for Finnish expertise and research in biomass and relocating installed gensets to Jhimpir to supplement wind farms.
Minister Malik highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to modernizing its energy sector and welcomed Wärtsilä’s advanced technological solutions to improve energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
He emphasized the government’s efforts to facilitate foreign investors and foster long-term partnerships.
Mr. Eerola and Mr. Eykerman expressed their enthusiasm for deepening ties with Pakistan, acknowledging the country’s recognition as investment destination.
The Consul General remarked that it's unprecedented for Pakistan to attract such global investor attention like never before.
Wärtsilä, which is a Finnish company,a global leader in smart technologies for the energy markets is also working in Reko Diq project in addition to power sector projects in Pakistan.
The meeting concluded with mutual agreement to explore biomass opportunities and continued engagement in energy, reinforcing the shared vision of sustainable energy development.
