Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid Calls on Federal Minister Syed Imran Ahmed Shah to Discuss Operational Improvements

Islamabad: April 30, 2025

Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, called on Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, to review field operations and discuss strategies to enhance the outreach and effectiveness of the program.

During the meeting, the need to fill vacant field positions on an urgent basis was strongly emphasized to ensure uninterrupted service delivery and to address issues being faced at the grassroots level.

Federal Minister Syed Imran Ahmed Shah encouraged the Chairperson to personally visit Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Okara, and surrounding districts to witness field activities and engage directly with staff and beneficiaries. He shared his satisfaction over his recent visit to the BISP office in Kasur, noting the effective arrangements and dedicated performance of the local team.

Madam Chairperson also emphasized the organisation’s relentless efforts to uplift its beneficiaries through poverty graduation and skill development initiatives, such as the Benazir Hunarmand Programme. This flagship initiative is designed to equip beneficiaries, particularly women, with cutting-edge technical skills aligned with global labor market demands—fostering economic independence and long-term sustainability.

The meeting concluded with a joint reaffirmation of commitment to expanding the scope and impact of BISP, with both sides dedicated to delivering transparent, efficient, and inclusive support to the most vulnerable segments of society.
