Pakistan and Czech Republic Explore Energy and Mineral Sector Collaboration in High-Level Meeting
Islamabad: April 28, 2025

Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, held a meeting with Mr. David Muller, Director General at the Czech Republic’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, to discuss potential partnerships in energy innovation and mineral resource development. The discussions centered on advancing cooperation in oil and gas exploration, carbon capture, clean coal technologies, coal gasification, and mining sector collaboration. The meeting underscored both nations' commitment to sustainable energy solutions and technological exchange. Minister Malik highlighted Pakistan’s focus on modernizing its energy infrastructure while reducing environmental impact. He emphasized the potential for Czech expertise in clean coal technology and carbon capture to support Pakistan’s energy transition. Pakistan is aggressively working to reduce the cost of electricity by transitioning from imported coal to indigenous coal for power generation. Minister Malik stated, *“Pakistan is keen to build up cooperation and enhance our own investment capacities. We are undergoing bidding round for exploration both in onshore and offshore." He added that Europe is a huge market for Pakistan.We are working to expand that and foster partnerships to increase the trade volume." Mr. David Muller remarked that “Czech Republic sees great potential in collaborating with Pakistan on energy and various fields. We are eager to explore mutually beneficial opportunities and share our technological expertise .” He further stated that the minerals sector opportunities in Pakistan will be shared with the Czek companies. Moreover, team of Geological Survery of Pakistan will be connected with the geological survey of Czek Republic to explore technology exchange and expertise sharing. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Czek Republic in Pakistan H.E Ladislav Steinhübel, Deputy head of mission at Czek Embassy, Chairman Pakistan Minerals Development corporation Shamsuddin Sheikh, Managing Director PMDC Asad Ahmad, Joint Secretary Petroleum Division Shehbaz Tahir and other officials were also in presence.
