FINANCE MINISTER SEEKS STRONGER TRADE TIES AND INVESTMENT SUPPORT IN MEETING WITH US EXIM BANK

Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, held a meeting with senior representatives of the United States Export-Import Bank (EXIM), led by Mr. Jim Barrows, Acting First Vice President and Vice Chairman, on the sidelines of the IMF–World Bank Spring Meetings in Washington, D.C.

The Finance Minister briefed the EXIM delegation on Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic fundamentals and the fiscal consolidation measures undertaken by the government. He informed them that Pakistan had successfully reached a staff-level agreement on the first review under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and a new arrangement under the Resilience and Sustainability Facility (RSF) with the IMF.

The Finance Minister also provided an update on the progress of the Reko Diq project and emphasized its significance in attracting foreign investment. He called for the EXIM Bank’s enhanced support to facilitate greater US investment in Pakistan.

Senator Aurangzeb further expressed Pakistan’s desire to engage constructively with the United States to address tariff-related issues and strengthen bilateral trade relations.
