Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, visited the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) office in Sahiwal, where he reviewed the ongoing field survey and interacted with beneficiaries present at the site. Deputy Director Sardar Razzaq Mehmood gave a detailed briefing on the program. On this occasion, Federal Minister Syed Imran Ahmed Shah stated that the federal government is implementing a comprehensive program aimed at financially supporting underprivileged segments of society to lift them out of poverty. Under this initiative, not only are monthly stipends provided to deserving families, but scholarships are also being awarded to eligible students, and nutritional supplements are offered to pregnant women. He emphasized that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is making serious efforts to boost the country’s economic growth and eradicate poverty so that its benefits may reach the common citizen. Earlier, Deputy Director Sardar Razzaq Mehmood briefed that under the Kafalat Program, more than 103,000 registered individuals in Sahiwal district are receiving a monthly stipend of Rs. 13,500, and the registration process for new eligible beneficiaries is ongoing. He further explained that under the “Waseela-e-Taleem” initiative, educational stipends are being provided to the children of these deserving families. Additionally, pregnant women and newborns are being supported through monthly stipends and food supplements. Federal Minister Syed Imran Ahmed Shah strictly instructed the staff to ensure that no deserving household is excluded from financial assistance during the field survey, emphasizing the importance of making these programs even more effective.
