NEOC's Extreme weather alert: hailstorm, thunderstorm and rain for evening 18-19 April

NDMA's National Emergencies Operations Center (NEOC) has issued a high-alert weather advisory for the Pothohar region, including Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Upper Punjab (Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, and Jhelum), and Central Punjab (Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Jhang, Khushab, Mianwali, Lahore, Narowal, Sahiwal, Sargodha, and Sheikhupura) from the evening of April 18 to April 19, 2025*. Heavy rainfall, windstorms, thunderstorms, and isolated hailstorms are expected, posing risks to infrastructure, transportation, and agricultural activities. Potential Impact - Strong winds and heavy rain may cause trees to fall, resulting in temporary power outages. - Wind, dust storms, and hailstorms may damage weak structures, rooftops, vehicles, and power lines. - Hailstorms could harm crops and outdoor structures, especially those with glass surfaces. - Reduced visibility due to rain and dust could heighten the risk of road accidents. Recommended Actions - Follow NDMA's Mobile application "Pak NDMA Disaster alert " for updates -Tourists and residents should stay updated on the latest weather forecasts through official sources. - Travelers are advised to check road conditions before departing and avoid unnecessary journeys during intense weather. - People in landslide-prone areas must remain vigilant and adhere to local safety advisories.
