Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Ministry of National Food Security and Research Holds Send-Off Ceremony for First Batch of Agricultural Graduates Departing to China

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a send-off ceremony for 300 agricultural graduates embarking on a journey to China. These graduates have been shortlisted as part of "Pakistan's Prime Minister’s Initiative for Capacity Building of 1,000 Agricultural Graduates in China." The Prime Minister’s initiative marks a strategic step toward transforming the future of Pakistan’s agriculture sector through human capital development and international collaboration. The Prime Minister’s initiative is a step towards the sustainable development and attaining food security of the nation. It is an investment in the education sector as it tends to create an empowered next generation of agricultural professionals with international exposure. In future, this initiative will address the challenges posed by climate change, resource limitations, and outdated farming practices. Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, in his address to the gathering, stressed the need to modernize agricultural methodologies and strengthen the capacity of youth through global learning experiences. He underscored the visionary leadership of the Prime Minister in introducing ways to incorporate climate-smart agriculture towards attaining a green Pakistan. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between conventional agriculture and cutting-edge scientific approaches, such as precision farming, farm mechanisation, biotechnology, genomics, artificial intelligence, and high-efficiency irrigation systems. The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to dispatching 1,000 promising young minds from all provinces, ensuring inclusive participation and representation. These graduates will gain valuable insights by studying in China, as the country is known for its innovation in sustainable agriculture and high-yield technologies. This initiative aims to foster cooperation in the agricultural research and development sector, and lay the foundation for technology transfer, joint ventures, and long-term partnerships between Pakistani and Chinese institutions. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain congratulated the graduates on their selection for this opportunity. They expressed confidence that these young professionals on return will act as change-makers who will boost our national growth and food system resilience.
