MANAGING DIRECTOR OF PAKISTAN BAIT-UL-MAL CALLS ON FEDERAL MINISTER SYED IMRAN AHMED SHAH
Islamabad: April 15, 2025

Managing Director of Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM), Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt, called on Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety, Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, to discuss the organization's current operations, challenges, and future plans. During the meeting, Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt congratulated the Federal Minister on assuming his new role, expressing optimism that under his leadership, the ministry would further its mission to alleviate poverty and enhance social safety nets across the country. The Managing Director provided a comprehensive briefing on PBM's ongoing welfare programs and administrative matters. He highlighted that the absence of a permanent Managing Director for over a year had posed significant challenges to the organization's operations. However, with the recent appointment, efforts are underway to implement reforms aimed at improving efficiency and service delivery. A key focus of the discussion was the organization's initiative to reduce administrative and distribution costs. Through strategic downsizing and cost-cutting measures, PBM aims to limit these expenses to 15-20% of the total budget, ensuring that a greater portion of funds directly benefits the underprivileged. The Federal Minister was also apprised of the success of PBM's cochlear implant program, which has provided free auditory devices to over 1,800 beneficiaries across Pakistan. This initiative has significantly improved the quality of life for individuals with hearing impairments. Senator Capt. Shaheen Khalid Butt extended an invitation to the Federal Minister for an official visit to PBM headquarters. He assured that a detailed briefing would be provided during the visit, covering the organization's field activities, financial transparency measures, and upcoming welfare projects. Federal Minister Syed Imran Ahmed Shah expressed satisfaction with PBM's current initiatives and emphasized the government's commitment to ensuring that resources are utilized effectively to support those in need. He reiterated that the efficient use of public funds and direct assistance to beneficiaries remain top priorities for the ministry.
