“We place pens and saplings in children’s hands to foster learning and environmental stewardship—not division or destruction” Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, Federal Parliamentary Secretary
Rawalpindi: March 21, 2025

The Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information & Broadcasting, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, inaugurated a nationwide tree-plantation campaign under the Green and Prosperous Pakistan initiative, in collaboration with the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA). The ceremony, held at Rawalpindi’s Potohar Park to mark International Day of Forests, underscored Pakistan’s resolve to address climate challenges through collective action. Barrister Danyal emphasized Pakistan’s paradoxical position as a nation contributing minimally to global carbon emissions yet facing severe climate vulnerabilities. The PHA launched the campaign’s first phase by planting 1,000 saplings in Rawalpindi’s key areas, with an additional 1,000 trees planted during the event in public parks and green belts. Highlighting the role of youth and education, Barrister Danyal remarked, “We place pens and saplings in children’s hands to foster learning and environmental stewardship—not division or destruction. Democracy thrives on constructive dialogue, not discord.” He linked deforestation to Pakistan’s erratic rainfall patterns and warned, “Humanity’s survival is intertwined with trees; securing a greener future is our duty to coming generations.” The event concluded with PHA officials, students, and residents planting saplings together, symbolizing a unified national effort toward ecological preservation. Barrister Danyal Chaudhry urged citizens, educational institutions, and professionals to actively participate, asserting, “Every tree planted today is a lifeline for tomorrow.”
