Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, has written a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, urging the declaration of Narang Mandi and surrounding villages in Tehsil Muridke, District Sheikhupura, as disaster-stricken areas due to severe damage caused by recent heavy rains and hailstorms. In his letter, the Federal Minister highlighted the plight of wheat farmers, stating that the extreme weather conditions have badly affected wheat crops, pushing farmers into a deep financial crisis. He noted that the farmers of these areas were already struggling due to last year’s low returns on wheat, and this natural calamity has further worsened their economic situation. The Minister strongly recommended that Narang Mandi and its adjacent villages be officially declared disaster-stricken areas so that immediate relief measures can be taken to support the affected farmers. He stressed that the government must intervene to protect farmers from financial collapse and ensure food security in the region. The Ministry of National Food Security & Research, under the leadership of Rana Tanveer Hussain, remains fully committed to supporting farmers and ensuring timely interventions to mitigate agricultural losses caused by natural disasters. The Ministry will continue to work with all relevant authorities to ensure relief measures reach the affected farmers at the earliest.
