FEDERAL MINISTER QAISER AHMED SHEIKH EMPHASIZES CSR’S ROLE IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

The Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, addressed the 17th CSR Summit and Awards 2025 in Islamabad, emphasizing the strategic role of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in sustainable economic growth, environmental conservation, and social development. He highlighted the importance of CSR in the maritime sector, stressing the need for public-private partnerships in sustainable fisheries, marine conservation, and coastal community development to uplift underprivileged coastal populations. He called on businesses to integrate eco-friendly practices, maritime education, and blue economy initiatives into their CSR strategies. The Minister also urged corporate leaders to collaborate with the government on key national priorities, including education, healthcare, renewable energy, climate resilience, and infrastructure development. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to facilitating CSR initiatives through policy support and partnerships. Pakistan is making strides in climate adaptation and environmental sustainability, and Mr. Sheikh encouraged businesses to align CSR efforts with national and global sustainability goals, particularly in green energy, carbon footprint reduction, and responsible industrial practices. Congratulating the award winners, he commended their dedication to social impact, corporate ethics, and sustainable business practices, urging them to continue their contributions toward an equitable society. He also appreciated the National Forum for Environment and Health (NFEH) and its partners for organizing the summit, emphasizing the importance of such platforms for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge sharing in CSR. "Let us work together to build a prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable Pakistan. Our collective efforts can drive meaningful change and uplift those in need," the Minister stated.
