Malaysian delegation led by Haji Mohammad Azmi Hamid –Cikgo Azmi, President Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organization (MAPIM), called on Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit Baltistan and SAFRON Engr Amir Muqam here at ministry. Federal Secretary Ministry of Kashmir Affairs, Gilgit Baltistan and SAFRON Zafar Hasan and Additional Secretary Kamran Rehman Khan were also present on the occasion. Extending a warm welcome to the delegation, the Federal Minister said he would like to specifically acknowledge and thank you -Cikgo Azmi, for your leadership and dedication to the cause of the Muslim Ummah. “On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, I thank you for the significant work that you do and we remain committed to supporting and working alongside you,” he added Federal Minister Engr Amir Muqam highlighted the importance Pakistan attaches to its brotherly relations with Malaysia. Federal Minister also briefed the delegation in detail on the deteriorating human rights and humanitarian situation in IIOJK. He said that United Nations Security Council resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir affirm the right of the Kashmiri people to decide their future through a fair and impartial plebiscite. However, India has refused to grant this right to the people of IIOJK during 77 years. “Following its illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August, 2019, India’s is also subjecting the Kashmir people to systematic human rights violations. It has created an environment of fear to crush dissent in IIOJK. He underscored the importance of the international community’s role in helping to ameliorate the dire situation and to facilitate a peaceful solution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions. Haji Mohammad Azmi Hamid –Cikgo Azmi, President Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organization (MAPIM) expressed concern over the human rights and humanitarian situation in IIOJK and affirmed support for the rights of the Kashmiris and a just a and lasting solution of the Kashmir dispute. He also underlined their commitment to continue efforts to raise awareness about the Kashmir situation in the region. He informed that MAPIM had established the Friends of Kashmir group and also announced establishing Kashmir Malaysia Pakistan Center to enhance bilateral relations. He also said that scholarships and other opportunities would be provided to Azad Jammu Kashmir youth. He said that Muslim unity is a major prerequisite for Muslims to become an exemplary society and for them to tackle challenges they are facing, including the issue of Palestine.
