PM AZERBAIJAN ALI ASADOV CALLED ON BY ABDUL ALEEM KHAN $2 b INVESTMENT, PM PAKISTAN TO VISIT AZERBAIJAN THIS MONTH Pakistan and Azerbaijan Strengthen Bilateral Ties with Investment and Trade Discussions

Federal Minister for Board of Investment, Privatization, and Communications, Abdul Aleem Khan, met with the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ali Asadov, in Baku to discuss avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation. During the meeting, Minister Abdul Aleem Khan conveyed best wishes on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan and highlighted the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif to Central Asian countries later this month. The discussions focused on expanding economic collaboration, with Minister Abdul Aleem Khan emphasizing the vast investment opportunities in Pakistan, particularly in the privatization of State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs). He also invited Azerbaijan to invest in Pakistan’s motorway infrastructure and other key sectors, assuring all possible facilitation. Welcoming the Pakistani delegation, Prime Minister Ali Asadov reaffirmed the deep-rooted ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan, built on a strong bond of brotherhood. He praised Pakistan’s recent economic advancements and assured Azerbaijan’s support in increasing bilateral trade and investment. The leaders acknowledged that following the state visit of Azerbaijan’s President to Pakistan last year, bilateral relations have entered a new era of strategic cooperation. High-Level Engagements on Trade and Investment During the visit, the Pakistani delegation, led by Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, engaged in productive discussions with Azerbaijan’s key ministers, including Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov, Transport Minister Rashad Nabiyev, Deputy Minister of Economy Samad Bashiri, and President of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), Rovshan Najaf. The meetings explored opportunities for mutual investment in various sectors, including infrastructure development, energy, and trade. Minister Abdul Aleem Khan announced that agreements worth $2 billion will be signed with Azerbaijan for investment in Pakistan, further strengthening economic ties. Additionally, discussions covered the privatization of government-run enterprises and other key investment initiatives. Azerbaijani officials extended a warm welcome to the Pakistani delegation and assured full cooperation in fostering bilateral trade and investment. The meetings were also attended by SIFC Coordinator Lt. Gen. Sarfaraz Ahmed, Federal Secretary Petroleum Momin Ali Agha, and senior Pakistani officials. Strengthening Economic Connectivity President of SOCAR, Rovshan Najaf, also held a separate meeting with Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the energy sector and boost trade volumes. The visit also included a review of progress on various Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Special discussions were held on developing trade corridors, rail networks, and other communication links between Pakistan and Central Asian states to enhance regional connectivity. This visit marks another step toward deepening economic and strategic ties between Pakistan and Azerbaijan, paving the way for expanded cooperation in trade, investment, and infrastructure development
