In a series of high-profile meetings during his official visit to Cambodia, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, met with influential Cambodian Oknhas and representatives of the Textile, Apparel, Footwear & Travel Goods Association in Cambodia (TAFTAC). These discussions centered on expanding bilateral trade, fostering investment opportunities, and promoting cultural and economic collaboration. The Minister’s meeting with the Cambodian Oknhas brought together leading figures from diverse sectors, including services, confectionery, real estate, tobacco, cement, beverages, and education. Minister Jam Kamal Khan introduced Pakistan’s growing export potential and investment-friendly environment, emphasizing opportunities in its textile, agriculture, and industrial sectors. The Cambodian Oknhas expressed strong interest in establishing a Joint Business Council (JBC) with Pakistani counterparts to enhance bilateral trade and business collaborations. Minister Jam Kamal Khan welcomed the proposal, affirming Pakistan’s support through its diplomatic missions and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). Both sides agreed to organize business-to-business (B2B) meetings to further explore opportunities and identify specific areas for cooperation. During his meeting with TAFTAC Deputy Chairman Mr. Albert Tan, Minister Jam Kamal Khan highlighted Pakistan’s position as a reliable supplier of high-quality cotton and yarn. TAFTAC showed keen interest in sourcing non-Chinese origin raw materials to meet international demand for garment production. The Minister invited TAFTAC members to participate in Pakistan’s flagship trade events, TEXPO and HEMS, as part of efforts to deepen ties between the textile industries of both countries. Tourism also featured prominently in the discussions, with an emphasis on promoting religious tourism for Buddhist pilgrims to Pakistan. Both sides agreed that enhancing cultural exchanges could serve as a valuable bridge between the two nations. The meetings underscored a shared commitment to strengthening trade relations, encouraging investments, and fostering people-to-people connections. With plans for bilateral trade delegations, B2B meetings, and greater cooperation in textiles and tourism, the visit marked a pivotal step in cementing ties between Pakistan and Cambodia.
