In line with the Prime Minister’s directive, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Mr. Ishaq Dar, chaired a high-level meeting of the Working Group for the Establishment of Textile Parks in Pakistan. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, brought together key stakeholders to accelerate progress on this vital initiative aimed at driving export-led industrialization in the country. The Working Group, constituted by the Prime Minister in September 2024, includes representatives from the Board of Investment (BOI), Ministry of Industries and Production (MoIP), Ministry of Commerce (MoC), Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), Economic Affairs Division (EAD), and Power Division. Provincial Coordination Committees of Punjab and Sindh and the Embassy of Pakistan, Beijing, also participated to ensure seamless collaboration. The Chair emphasized the establishment of state-of-the-art textile parks through partnerships with international and domestic investors, which will develop the parks, boost exports, and create jobs. He also underscored the need for capitalizing on available land in Special Economic Zones (SEZs) by upgrading them into “plug-and-play” facilities to attract immediate industrial investments. The Chair directed all stakeholders to expedite actionable plans, remove procedural bottlenecks, and align efforts with the government’s vision of sustainable economic growth and export enhancement.
