Today, we mark the Kashmiris’ Right to Self-Determination Day, a reminder of the UN resolution passed on 5th January 1949, guaranteeing the people of Jammu and Kashmir their inalienable right to decide their future through a free and fair plebiscite. It is tragic that the Kashmiri people have been denied this right for over seven decades, while facing grave human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). India’s unilateral actions since 5th August 2019 aim to suppress their struggle and alter the region’s demography, violating international law. Pakistan reaffirms its unwavering support for the just cause of Kashmir and calls on the global community to act decisively to ensure justice, freedom, and the realization of Kashmiris’ rightful aspirations.
