A prestigious ceremony was held for the 8th Annual Convocation of FAST National University Chiniot Campus, where the Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh, attended as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Aftab Maroof, Rector of FAST National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, while special guest Bashir Jan Mohammad, Chancellor of the Institute of Business Management and Chairman of Westbury Group of Companies (Dalda Foods), also attended the seminar. On this occasion, Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh reflected on his role in establishing the FAST National University Chiniot Campus and its development. He mentioned that the number of students at the Chiniot campus has been steadily increasing, with the number of female students being higher compared to other educational institutions, which he hailed as a significant success and a symbol of social change. He further mentioned that over 4,500 students have graduated from the Chiniot campus to date, with a large number of them achieving outstanding success in higher education. Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh also discussed the ongoing construction of the Government College University Faisalabad Chiniot campus, which is progressing rapidly with an allocation of 190 crore rupees. He noted that this project would be completed by December 2024, and its inauguration ceremony will be held, which will further enhance the quality of higher education in Chiniot. Talking about the geographical significance of Chiniot, the Federal Minister emphasized that the city is located in the central region of Punjab, making it possible to reach over 180 million people within just a few hours. He further stated that Chiniot is emerging as an economic and educational hub of Pakistan, and the youth of the region will play a crucial role in the country's development. On this occasion, special guest Bashir Jan Mohammad announced 25 lakh rupees in financial assistance for the campus's students, aimed at supporting underprivileged students and alleviating their educational expenses. He expressed that such initiatives would further improve students' academic performance and activities. A total of 369 students graduated at this convocation, including 350 graduates who received their bachelor’s degrees, 17 students who earned their MS/MBA degrees, and 2 students who completed their PhDs. Additionally, one lakh rupees were announced as rewards for students who received medals for their academic excellence, further acknowledging their hard work and achievements. The program saw active participation from students and faculty members of the departments of Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering**, and Business Administration . The event was attended by a large number of students' parents, faculty members, and other guests, making it a memorable and successful event. This convocation marks an important step toward educational progress in Chiniot and contributes to a brighter future for Pakistan, not only enhancing the quality of education locally but also sending a message of educational improvement nationwide.
