No Weapons Used in D Chowk Operation: Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry Refutes PTI’s Allegations
Islamabad November 27, 2024

Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry, Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, on Wednesday refuted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s claims of widespread killings during the D Chowk operation. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Danyal Chaudhry clarified that no firearms were used during the operation, which aimed to prevent casualties and maintain peace. He accused PTI of attempting to incite violence to disrupt the visits of foreign dignitaries, calling their allegations of killings "misleading propaganda." Daniyal Chaudhry emphasized that no protesters were killed by gunfire, and the deaths that occurred were due to individuals fleeing in panic. He criticized PTI for politicizing the deaths, adding that their violent protests were poorly planned and intended to sabotage government operations. Danyal Chaudhry highlighted that PTI’s leaders, including Bushra Bibi and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, had fled the scene despite calls for restraint. The Parliamentary Secretary also revealed that 900 hardened criminals, including 37 Afghan nationals carrying weapons, were arrested during the operation. PTI protesters, incited by Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi, engaged in street firing and destroyed over 100 CCTV cameras, along with setting fire to police vehicles. He noted that 52 law enforcement officers had been injured, with several in critical condition. Barrister Danyal condemned PTI for inciting violence, stating that the government had shown restraint in the face of aggression. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring peace and economic stability, adding that those responsible for the violence on November 26 and 27 would be held accountable. He concluded by paying tribute to the residents of Rawalpindi and Islamabad for rejecting the call for violent protests.
