PR No.213 Prime Minister Issues Direction To Sapm, Foreign Ministry, To Assist Stranded Pakistanis In Moscow Islamabad: March 24, 2016

On the directions of the Prime Minister, efforts are on to provide all possible assistance to the Pakistanis stranded at Moscow’s Airport. Pakistan’s Ambassador in Moscow has remained in constant contact with the Russian authorities for consular access, which has been granted. A Russian speaking Embassy official is meeting the stranded passengers. The issue is also being taken up by Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Russian Embassy in Islamabad.

The Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs and the Ministry are keeping the Prime Minister’s Office updated on the situation. The Russian Foreign Ministry has confirmed that the stranded passengers were served with food and are being looked after appropriately. They will be repatriated by evening today. Pakistanis who were earlier repatriated are in transit in Istanbul. The Pakistan Mission there is in touch with the relevant quarters to ascertain welfare of the passengers and to ensure their early repatriation to Pakistan.
