PTI's Protest in Islamabad Led to a 1.11 Billion Rupee Loss to the National Economy: Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Addresses Press Conference Islamabad, November 20, 2024 – Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry, the Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, asserted that the government gained the trust of the public purely based on its performance. He criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for consistently inflicting damage on the country’s assets and economy. He revealed that the recent protest in Islamabad resulted in a loss of 1.11 billion rupees to the national economy, with public property worth 152 million rupees also suffering damage. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Barrister Chaudhry stated that Pakistan's economy was growing stronger day by day thanks to the government's policies. He highlighted the remarkable 42% annual growth in Pakistan's IT sector, which reached 292 million dollars by September 2024. However, he pointed out that PTI's disruptive actions were costing the nation 5 to 6 million dollars daily due to nationwide internet and broadband outages. The Parliamentary Secretary emphasized that the government’s "Ghareeb Dost” budget had brought about tangible improvements in people's lives, as reflected in the increase in per capita income. He also lauded the agricultural sector’s success, with an overall growth of 6.25%, alongside a 16.82% increase in critical crops such as wheat, rice, and cotton. In Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, revolutionary initiatives such as the Kisan Card, Green Tractor Scheme, and the Punjab Livestock Program have played a pivotal role in advancing the province’s development. Similarly, the industrial sector has witnessed commendable progress, with a growth rate of 1.21% this year, particularly in manufacturing (2.42%) and construction (5.86%). Barrister Danyal pointed to clear signs of economic improvement, including a reduction in inflation and a drop in interest rates from 22% to 15%. He also noted that the stock market had reached its highest level of 97,000 points. Furthermore, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif's relief measures for industries, such as reduced electricity bills, had significantly contributed to the nation's economic progress. The Parliamentary Secretary also praised the government’s unwavering commitment to national security, acknowledging the sacrifices of the security forces and the Pakistan Army in safeguarding the country. He then posed a crucial question to the public: "Which Pakistan do you want? The one mired in hatred and division, or the one marching towards unity, progress, and a brighter future? The choice is yours."
