Parliamentary Secretary Mrs Saba Sadiq recently chaired a crucial meeting with key stakeholders to discuss the performance of subsidiary institutions under the Ministry of Human Rights. The attendees included Chairman Gender Parity Barrister Aqeel, Member Commission on the Status of Women Umme Laila, and Director General Child Protection Institute Rabia Hadi. Mrs Saba Sadiq emphasized her commitment to protecting women's rights and ensuring a bright future for them. She said to achieve this, women are being equipped with skills such as culinary arts, computer training, and other courses at Women Welfare Centers. The goal is to empower women to stand on their own feet and become independent. She further added that to expand its reach, programs will be initiated to teach skills to women in remote areas, connecting them with larger institutions for independence. Umme Laila announced the upcoming publication of the Islamabad Gender Parity Report, a first-of-its-kind report, followed by annual reports. Mrs Saba Sadiq appreciated Umme Laila's work on Gender Parity and stressed the importance of inter-departmental and NGO’s cooperation, data sharing, and information exchange to enhance public service and reduce the gender gap. The protection of children was also a key discussion point. Director General Rabia Hadi was tasked by Mrs Saba Sadiq to provide better education and training to children, and alternative support methods for needy families to prevent child begging. Mrs Saba Sadiq suggested finding alternative support methods for families in need to prevent children from begging. She also announced plans to provide a vehicle to the Child Protection Institute to facilitate easy rescue operations for street children. The meeting demonstrated the Parliamentary Secretary's dedication to promoting human rights, empowering women, and protecting children.
