Embassy of Pakistan, Tehran celebrated 147th birth Anniversary of Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal popularly known as Iqbal Lahori in Tehran, in collaboration with Department of Urdu, University of Tehran today. H.E. Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, Ambassador of Pakistan in Tehran was the chief guest of the ceremony. Dr. Abdul Raza Saif, Rais Danishkuda-e-Adbeat o uloom-e-Insaani while presiding over the ceremony welcomed all the respected guests and highlighted the work of Iqbal and his Islamic thoughts. The Ambassador Muhammad Mudassir Tipu admired and appreciated the love of people of Iran for Iqbal Lahori. He added that Iqbal is the poet of all ages and his work is in Persian Language. He ignited the flame of independence in hearts of Muslims of sub-continent, he said. The words of Rahbar-e-Inqelab Ayat-ullah Khamenai about Iqbal are greatly respected in literary circles of Pakistan. He expressed his delight that Rahbar has learnt 2000 verses of Iqbal. Thoughts of Iqbal are universal and metaphysical in nature. The concept of Khudi, Shaheen and his devotion for Muhammad are matchless. In this era of globalization where cultures are diminishing, the thoughts of Iqbal are beacon to stay connected to our roots, cultural values and civilization, he added. Iqbal is rightly said "The Poet of the East", as he has summarized the cultural values of entire East including Iran, Arab, Turkey and Pakistan through his poetry. A documentary titled "Poet of the East" was also run highlighting the life of Iqbal Lahori. Urdu and Farsi verses of Iqbal were also recited by the students to pay homage to the great Poet, Philosopher and Thinker of all times. An exhibition of the rare pictures depicting the life and career of Iqbal was also organized in university of Tehran. A large number of students, scholars and Pakistani diaspora attended the ceremony.
