Ambassador of Denmark, to Pakistan H.E Jakob Linulf called on Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) and Kashmir Affairs Engineer Amir Muqam and discussed mutual matters of interest. The discussions during the meeting covered a range of topics, including the welfare of Afghan refugees and avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries. UNHCR's Representative in Pakistan Philippa Candler was also accompanying him. Secretary SAFRON Zafar Hasan and Joint Secretary Agha Waseem Ahmad also attended the meeting. Both sides agreed to focus on strengthening bilateral relations as well as increasing high level contacts and exploring new avenues of cooperation. Federal Minister Engr Amir Muqam said that there is significant potential for cooperation between the two countries. Federal Minister Engr Amir Muqam also said that Pakistan and Denmark can explore Joint program to improve education, healthcare and vocational training for Afghan refugees. "We deeply appreciate Denmark's partnership and support in sorting out refugees issues and I am optimistic that together we can develop effective solutions to manage and resolve the Afghan refugees situation while strengthening Pakistan's socio -economic reliance", he added. The Federal Minister underlined the financial challenges of Pakistan in hosting Afghans in the country and noted the generous support of the international community. However, he emphasised that international attention is dwindling and continued solidarity is a must. Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan H.E Jakob Linulf expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s recent decision to extend the validity of refugee Proof of Registration cards (POR). The Ambassador also commended Pakistan for its longstanding role in hosting millions of Afghan refugees, acknowledging the country’s significant humanitarian efforts.
