Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, stated that Pakistan’s progress will not be compromised by any individual’s ego or hatred. During a press conference, he highlighted Pakistan’s success in hosting the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit, calling it a rare opportunity to showcase the country’s development. He noted that the global community will be focused on Pakistan, with many major countries viewing it with pride. The minister termed the upcoming visit of the Chinese Premier, “the first in 11 years”, emphasizing its significance for bilateral relations. He reiterated the government’s determination for exemplary hospitality for the international guests attending the summit. Ahsan Iqbal expressed serious concern over the protests planned by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on October 15, aimed at creating chaos and damaging Pakistan’s core interests. He drew attention to PTI’s previous actions that harmed Pakistan’s economic and diplomatic standing, particularly during the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiatives, which were negatively impacted by PTI’s policies in 2018. The minister maintained that PTI’s founder Imran Khan was waging a war against the state instead of proving his innocence in ongoing legal matters. He further stated that the PTI leader submitted fraudulent documents and mishandled state funds, diverting them for personal and political gain. Ahsan Iqbal further criticized PTI’s divisive politics and disregard for the judiciary, accusing them of manipulating institutions for personal gain. He called on PTI supporters to reflect on the party’s lack of concrete achievements during its tenure in government, pointing out the absence of major diplomatic, economic, or social projects. He warned that PTI’s planned protests during the SCO summit are an attempt to tarnish Pakistan’s international image. He questioned whether this agenda aligns with Pakistan’s national interests or those of its enemies. Ahsan Iqbal reiterated that Pakistan’s development will not be sacrificed to serve the interests of one individual. He urged the nation to reject negative politics and work together for a prosperous future. The minister reaffirmed that the state of Pakistan will not be compromised for personal interests but will be protected at all costs.
