MINISTER IRKED OVER THE FAILURE TO COMPLY DEADLINE OF DIGITALIZATION PROCESSES IN THE MINISTRY AND ATTACHED DEPARTMENTS

Federal Minister for Housing and Works Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada chaired an important meeting today to assess the progress in the ongoing processes of digitalization and automation in the ministry and its attached departments. Secretary Housing and Works Dr. Shahzad Khan Bangash and all other higher officials of the ministry and heads of departments were present in the meeting. In the preliminary briefing, the chair was apprised of the current phase in the digitalization process. Minister showed his grave concern and questioned about the progress in the automation of Estate Office during the past six months. He expressed his utmost dismay for the elements and cartels those have been the hurdle in way of this inevitable transformation. He further resolved to deal with iron hands with all those who are supporting status quo due to their vested interests. Minster took the notice of the plight of Karachi Estate Office where, in a recent inquiry, manual records have been found in a dismal condition causing huge loss to govt exchequer in terms of tax collection. Karachi office is dealing with the thirty cooperative societies of land measuring 2676.14 acres under the Rule of Business 1973. Minister stressed upon the need of automation and set targets for different departments. He gave the ultimatum to complete the ongoing processes of digitalization of the official record and development of E-Portal for NOCs within the stipulated time. He also warned the officers to strictly abide by the cutoff dates otherwise he was fully convinced to introduce a major overhaul in the uppermost positions within the ministry.
