Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry on Monday visited various wards of Asfandyar Bukhari District Hospital Attock to inquire about the health of police personnel injured during the protest of a political party on the weekend. During his visit to the hospital he personally met each injured officer and lauded their discipline and patience during the violent protests of a political party. According to a police statement, 32 officers were injured during the violent protests, with nine of them in critical condition. "Despite facing brutal attacks, these officers thwarted a conspiracy to spread chaos in the country," the parliamentary secretary said, highlighting the bravery of the police force. One injured constable shared his ordeal with the minister, recounting how six protesters beat him with sticks for 15 minutes, leaving him with head injuries and a broken leg. Another officer revealed that he was beaten, dragged on the ground, and briefly abducted by the protesters. The DPO informed that 90 percent of the injured officers sustained head injuries or broken limbs. The injured officers expressed their gratitude to Barrister Daniyal Chaudhry, saying his visit had lifted their spirits. District Police Officer (DPO) Attock Sardar Ghias, who accompanied the parliamentary secretary emphasized that strict legal action would be taken against those responsible for the violence. He added that these brave officers were the heroes of Attock. The DPO also noted that, following the directives of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the injured officers were receiving full medical care. He said, " those who take the law into their own hands will face justice." Daniyal Chaudhary condemned the attackers, reportedly affiliated with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), for using barbed sticks and weapons to injure the officers. He acknowledged that a major disaster was averted, as the protest could have escalated towards Rawalpindi. "This could have been a bigger disaster than the May 9 incident," he remarked. Daniyal Chaudhry presented bouquets of flowers to all the injured police personnel on behalf of the Prime Minister and inquired about their health. He said that the Prime Minister has ordered to provide all medical facilities to the injured police personnel. He was accompanied by MNAs from Attock district Sheikh Aftab and Malik Suhail during the visit. Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Jawad said the injured officers were being given complete medical facilities, calling them the nation’s assets. He also disclosed that those with minor injuries had been discharged. The injured officers included Constable Qasim, Constable Khurram Shah, Commando Zahoor Shah, Muhammad Usman, Aziz, and Shahzad, all of whom suffered severe injuries. Two officers, Shahzad and Tayyab, were abducted and tortured before being rescued from an unknown location.
