Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Chaudhry Salik Hussain met with the European Union’s Special Envoy for Promotion of Religion and Belief, H.E. Frans van Daele, along with his delegation. During the meeting both discussed the increasing trend of religious intolerance in the world, terrorism, the eradication of sectarianism, the establishment of peace, and the promotion of interfaith harmony. Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain welcomed the European Union’s Special Envoy for Promotion of Religion and Belief, H.E. Frans van Daele, to the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony. Participants agreed to work together to reduce the trend of intolerance and achieve a peaceful common future. During the meeting, Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain stated that inter-faith harmony policy has been formulated and sent to cabinet for approval, Pakistan is committed to protecting the rights of minorities. To promote religious tolerance, more than 700 scholars from all religions and sects have signed the Pegham-e-Pakistan Document. No one is allowed to take law into their own hands under the guise of religion. The participants reiterated the commitment to work together between Pakistan and the European Union countries to promote interfaith harmony and to fight against Religious intolerance and extremism. The delegation also included the European Union’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Riina Kionka.
