A high-level meeting was held to review the various problems and difficulties being faced by Turkish Business Groups and Investors in Pakistan. Under the leadership of the Ambassador of Turkey in Pakistan, Dr. Mehmet Pacaci, the Turkish business community heads called on Federal Minister for Board of Investment & Privatization Abdul Aleem Khan, Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan, Federal Minister for Industries Rana Tanveer Hussain and Federal Minister for Petroleum Musadaq Malik. In the meeting with Turkish Business Heads, Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan assured them that those who are investing and working in various sectors in Pakistan will be provided with all possible support by the Government of Pakistan. Business delegations active in Textile, Chemical, Energy and other sectors, including Turkish Airlines, Al-Buraq, OzPak, informed the Federal Ministers about the problems related to various departments, upon which Abdul Aleem Khan said that the Board of Investment will provide 24-hour services to the business community of Turkey. He said that relations with Turkey are based on mutual love, bilateral brotherhood and they are very close to our hearts. Abdul Aleem Khan assured that providing a favorable environment to all foreign investors is our main and foremost priority. He said that most of the problems related to State Bank have already been resolved while immediate steps will be taken regarding FBR and other departments, as well. Abdul Aleem Khan said that those working in Special Economic Zones have special tax exemption and it is understandable that foreign investors will pay taxes if they earn profits. Ambassador of Turkey Dr. Mehmet Pacaci and heads of Turkish companies thanked Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan for his cooperation. Moreover, a meeting of Prime Minister's Steering Committee for Gems and Stones headed by Chairmen Committee & Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan was held in which the institutions in Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan regarding gems and stones were reviewed to make them functional. Federal Minister Abdul Aleem Khan expressed his commitment that this Steering Committee will visit there itself to make the existing institutions for natural stones a "Center of Excellence". Directing to take on board and consulting with the private sector, the Steering Committee meeting was called again on Monday by Chairman Abdul Aleem Khan. Federal Ministers Musadiq Malik, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Jam Kamal Khan and Ali Pervez Malik also attended the meeting as Members of the Steering Committee while Chief Secretary of Azad Kashmir, Secretary Minerals of Gilgit-Baltistan and other senior officers concerned presented precious stones and gave a detailed briefing on the search and its related issues.
