NDMA's GLOF ADVISORY – GB & KP

In light of higher temperatures and prevailing weather conditions, including rain / wind- thunderstorms up to 12 August 2024, there is increased risk of GLOF events, flash floods, landslides / mudslides, in vulnerable areas of GB and KP, especially in Districts Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Astore, Gilgit, Skardu, Ghanche, Shigar, and adjoining areas. The public is advised to avoid unnecessary movement in such areas, especially the discharge nullahs/ streams and rivers. Population at risk is advised to exercise extra caution and follow instructions from local authorities for safe evacuation in case of emergency. General masses are advised to stay informed by keeping track of weather updates and alerts.NDMA has launched the Pak NDMA Disaster Alert application, available on Google Play Store and iOS App Store, to provide timely alerts, advisories, and guidelines to the public. NDMA has issued instructions to all relevant departments to take necessary precautions to mitigate the possible effects of flooding and extreme weather. *****
