Honourable Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs & Gilgit Baltistan and SAFRON Engr Amir Muqam has said that the issues of Gilgit-Baltistan are the federal government’s priority, saying that they will utilise their authorities to promote development and prosperity in the region He stated this while chairing high level meeting here at Gilgit Baltistan Council on Wednesday. He said that Gilgit Baltistan had immense potential to become the world’s top tourist destination. He also highlighted the region’s minerals wealth and hydel power and pledged efforts to harness it for development. Federal Minister Engr Amir Muqam said that Gilgit Baltistan trader’s issues would be amicably resolved in accordance the rules and laws, adding that all the stakeholders would be taken into confidence. He said that federal government would extend maximum relief to the people of Gilgit Baltistan. He said that the government has resolved the issue of provision of wheat to Gilgit Baltistan and subsidy on wheat provided. The meeting was attended by Secretary Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Waseem Ajmal Chaudhary, Joint Secretary Gilgit Baltistan Council and representative of GB Importers and Exporters Association and GB Chambers. The meeting was also attended virtually by Chief Secretary Gilgit Baltistan Abrar Ahmad Mirza, Home Secretary Gilgit Baltistan, Secretary Law GB and Representative of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
