President Mamnoon Hussain and UN Secretary General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development H.M. Queen Maxima of the Netherlands have expressed optimism that Pakistan’s future is bright and the country is on the path to progress adding that the pace of progress can be further expedited by ensuring access of common man to fruits of progress and financial resources.

The two leaders said this in a meeting at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Thursday. On the occasion, Queen’s members of delegation, Ashraf Mahmood Wathra, Governor, State Bank of Pakistan, Dr. Waqar Masood Khan, Secretary, Ministry of Finance and other high officials were also present in the meeting.

President Mamnoon Hussain said that overall situation in the country is improving and the economy is stabilizing and the benefits are being passed on to the common man. The President said that the economic policies of Pakistan pivot on the inclusion of common man in the progress of the country adding that the country is endowed with the skilled human resource that can be utilized for the benefit of the country by facilitating their access to the financial resources.

The President said that Pakistan is a victim of the decades old conflicts in the region and sixty thousand civilians and the officials of law enforcement agencies embraced martyrdom in its wake. In addition, Pakistan has borne the financial losses of more than $100 billion as a result of this turmoil. President Mamnoon Hussain urged upon the World Bank and other international institutions to support Pakistan in surmounting the problems and to usher in prosperity in the country.

On the occasion, Queen Maxima hoped that the benefits of economic policies initiated by the Government of Pakistan will be passed on to the common man to improve their living standard. Queen Maxima appreciated the programmes started by the Government in order to make the common man particularly women and youth play their due role in the society and said that these steps will bring positive results for the country. The Queen praised the China Pakistan Economic Corridor and hoped that it will bring prosperity and stability in the region.
