Chairperson IPO, Farukh Amil, paid a visit to the University of Agriculture Peshawar, where he met with Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Jehan Bakht, Dean Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain Khalil, and senior faculty members. During the meeting, the importance of agriculture for Pakistan's national economy was emphasized. Chairperson Amil stressed the need for agriculturalists to prioritize their intellectual property (IP) rights and focus research and development on product development, particularly in Agri-Tech. He highlighted the challenges posed by climate change, water scarcity, and a growing population to national economic security. The faculty shared their critical views on recent international agreements related to genetic resources and traditional knowledge, which were deemed crucial. The Vice Chancellor emphasized the need for increased interaction with IPO-PAKISTAN and extended an invitation to Chairperson Amil to visit the university for sustained engagement with students and faculty.
